Team BLUEClimate crewed by British F18 National Champions, Matt Eeles and Jamie Butterworth and TeamBLUEOceans, skippered by professional ocean sailor Conrad Humphreys and crewed by F18 European Champion, Ryan Crawford will compete in the Archipelago Raid to raise awareness of mans growing impact on the environment.

TheBLUE Project is the first environmental campaign to use sport and adventure to highlight and raise awareness of our climate and oceans together with the resulting impact of global climate change. By entering two teams in to the Archipelago Raid, the BLUE Project will be able to emphasize the incredible beauty of the Scandinavian islands and promote ways in which we can all become more active in caring for the health of our planet.

More than 58 world-class competitors (29 teams) are preparing for this extraordinary quest through beauty, on F18 open catamarans. The event will be preceded with a prologue race from Stockholm city centre to Björnö on Sunday July 29th 2007.

The Raid pushes teams to the edge both mentally and physically as they navigate round the 100,000 islands that make up the Swedish, Aland and Finnish Archipelagos and teams will battle through uncharted rocks and changing weather conditions, stopping only briefly overnight for a short rest and food.

BLUE™'s presence at the Archipelago Raid 2007 has been extended and all 29 competing teams will be displaying BLUE Project logos on the hull of their boats in support of the campaign. Teams must manage their resources very carefully, using just the energy of the wind and the crew to skillfully navigate the Raid. They will need to carry everything with them for the five days of the race, highlighting how with careful preparation we can all leave less impact on the natural environment.

Conrad Humphreys, Archipelago Raid competitor and BLUEAmbassador comments: "I am delighted thatBLUEhas become involved with The Archipelago Raid. As an event set in one of the world's most pristine surroundings, this will be a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate first hand the growing need for us all to be more active in caring for the health of our planet."
