Landsailing
Summer weather over Brittany, fair winds of 10 to 15 knots from the ENE...No way we could resist an invitation from Jérôme Cottet, Blokart's French distributor, who invited us for shore sailing at Penthièrve at the mouth of the Quiberon peninsula.
After Hoggar's Tassili Expedition from last March, we came to the conclusion that kite sailing was not meant to climb sand dunes and down Southern Algeria's rocky terrain and would definitely be a headache for us.
Far from being phased, we looked at all types of inventions that could use the wind to transport us on never ending deserts.
That's how we found the Blokart, a lightweight kart using sails and it didn't look like we'd have to spend very long to learn how to operate it and less to assemble.
During a couple of days we regaled ourselves on these stunning little machines, gobbling up kilometres of beach as much as sand, which our gums are still feeling the effects. Baptism of fire has been just amazing, but we still need to go a long way and personalised those Blokarts before being able to go back into the desert.
No matter what,it's the source of new ideas that are slowly developing into dreams and possible adventures, taken aloft by fair winds.
Regardless, many thanks to Jérôme for making himself available, his wise counsel and his Olympian calm upon our incredible demands.
