It is with great sadness that we announce that 180 Degrees Pole to Pole explorer and BLUE Ambassador, Rob Gauntlett was tragically killed whilst on a climbing expedition in Chamonix, France.
Rob who last year, completed an epic 180 Degrees Pole to Pole expedition with friend and fellow BLUE Ambassador, James Hooper had been ice climbing with another explorer over the past week. The bodies of both Rob and his climbing companion where discovered yesterday by a routine mountain rescue team.
Conrad Humphreys, founder of the BLUE Project comments:
"We are very sad to learn the terrible news of Rob's death and our thoughts and wishes are with his family and friends at this tragic time. We had the pleasure of working with Rob (and James Hooper) over the past 2 years during their epic human powered crossing from the North to the South geographic poles. He was inspiring, articulate and cared passionately about the natural environment. We are devastated by this news but hope that he will be remembered as someone who loved life and lived it to the full".
