17-02-2009  A wing over the dunes

Radical changes for the next few weeks! The timing is right because I had to find some action in the middle of this never ending winter. The idea of tackling a new world had been tempting me for some time. Now the time has come to do up my bags, get a visa and leave the shores of Brittany to head for very dry winds. In two weeks, I'll be flying to Djanet, a town in Southern Algeria, on a scouting mission. I'll be with two friends Evrard Wendenbaum, film producer and cameraman of extreme sports www.evrardwendenbaum.com/ and Pierre Schmitt who, in 2005 crossed solo the Tenéré www.pierreschmitt.com This time, I won't be alone for the 600 kilometres between Tassili n'Ajjer and Hoggar, but we'll be an infernal trio crossing as many sand dunes and colored rocks as the ocean has waves. This is a radical change for me and certainly welcome. This will be a true team adventure where everyone will bring his knowledge before we establish the final outlook of the project. The cherry on the sundae and my reason to being in a desert: we'll be bringing our equipment in a kite-buggy. That's all I needed: someone to speak to me of kite-boating and they knew I couldn't resist the call of wide open spaces. Right now, I'm in the final preparation stage and I can taste that little bit of adventure and happiness, knowing that I've recovered my wings! To be followed...
