Charlie Head SUP’s 500 Blue Miles in South Coast Paddle

Charlie Head, from the Isle of Wight is an all round waterman, passionate about sport and environmental education.  His three stage Stand Up Paddle Board Challenge is designed to inspire the young, to help kids unleash their potential in order that they can make a positive contribution on society.

The first stage in Charlie’s SUP challenge was to SUP around the Isle of Wight which Charlie completed in 14hours in June 2011.

On 12th September 2012, Charlie started stage 2, to SUP from Penzance to London, a distance of over 500 Blue Miles.  Each targeted leg of the journey will range between 10 – 40 miles long depending on tide movements and weather conditions. Accommodation and supplies are supported by the convoy. Go Pro cameras are attached to Charlie to document the voyage and a tracker system is attached to the board, so people can follow him along the way.

Currently, Charlie is in Poole, waiting for the wind to reduce before heading across to his home town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight and the half way point.
