At 1020hrs (local time) on Saturday 06th October, Blue Ambassador, Dave Cornthwaite swam to the Gateway Arch in St Louis to complete the 7th journey of his Expedition 1000 project in a impressive 57 days..
Two months earlier, on the 10th August, Dave set out from South Dakota to swim 1000 miles along the lower Missouri River. Dave, who was supported along the way by Emily Bell, Vanessa Knight, Ben Stiff, Annabel Hancock, David Zaple, Louisa Currie and Sarah Mortiboys who followed Dave on Stand Up Paddle boards, averaged 20 miles a days whilst towing all his equipment behind him on a specially designed carbon fibre raft.
Dave, who admits that this has been the hardest of all the Expedition1000 challenges so far, has also been suffering from sickness over the past few weeks but has been determined to complete the challenge and to raise £100,000 for the Breast Cancer Awareness charity, Copperfeel.
Blue congratulates Dave and his team on this fantastic and epic achievement and looks forward to hearing more stories from Dave on the expedition, when he returns to the UK later on this month.
