Three new expeditions for Dave Cornthwaite

Blue Ambassador, Dave Cornthwaite, 32, today reveals plans to undertake three more expeditions in 2012.  These three new challenges will  form part of Dave’s Expedition1000 project, a series of twenty-five separate journeys of at least 1000 miles in distance, each using a different form of non-motorised transport. Throughout the project Dave aims to raise £1,000,000 for charity and will accumulate more than 25,000 Blue miles along the way.

In March Dave will sail 3000 miles from Mexico to Hawaii, joined by a group of strangers who heard about his journey through Facebook.

Then, in August he will swim over 1000 miles along the Lower Missouri River in the USA, towing his own gear on a small raft.

Finally, he will cross Canada in Winter alongside friend and fellow explorer Sarah Outen. This time he will be riding a Whike, a recumbent bicycle with a sail.  Dave comments: “Each one of these journeys throws up a new set of obstacles, lessons to be learned and trials to be overcome. And that’s before I even start sailing, swimming or pedalling!”

As an Ambassador for The Blue Project, Dave’s motivation to undertake these expeditions includes the opportunity to communicate his experiences, stories and visual media, to inspire others to want to protect our natural blue environment. Dave continues: “My journeys encourage thousands of people to get healthy and to understand themselves and the planet a little more.”
