Dave starts Swim1000 Expedition

Swim1000-DC

At 0800hrs local time today, (Friday 10th August), Blue Ambassador, Dave Cornthwaite will begin journey #7 in his Expedition1000 series, to swim 1,000 along the lower Missouri River between Chamberlain, South Dakota and St Louis, Missouri.

With swimming not being one of his most favorite sports, Dave classes this as the hardest expedition to date and to make life even more difficult, he will be towing all his gear behind him on a specially designed carbon fibre raft.

Dave is being joined on his Swim1000 expedition by a non motorised support team, with each member of the team paddling the full 1,000 miles either by canoe or stand up paddle board.  That’s a lot of Blue Miles that the Swim1000 team are going to clock up over the next two months!

Dave and his team are planning to cover 20 miles a day and hope to complete the journey in 50 days.  In doing so, they are aiming to raise £100,000 for breast cancer awareness charity, CopperFeel.

The Blue Project, wishes Dave and his team all the very best for the trip and we will be following Dave’s progress along the way.
