In the year that the IOC announce that Kitesurfing will be included as a Olympic Sport in the 2016 Olympic Games, replacing windsurfing, Blue Ambassador and four times world kiterace champion, Steph Bridge continues her reign across women’s Kiteracing.
At the fourth leg of the MINI European Kitesurf Tour, at La Baule near Nantes last month, Steph was crowned 2012 Course Racing European Champion with oldest son, Olly (aged 15) picking up 6th place in his class. The World Championships then followed at Cagliari, Italy from 2nd to 07th October. Steph took a two point lead into the final day of racing but after a strong day of competition, Steph finally finished in second place, just 1 point behind American, Erika Heineken.
Steph is now back in her home town of Exmouth with her family and three sons (the Bridglets), preparing for the next competition in the series and ultimately, working towards representing GB at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio with son, Olly.
