Swim Training in Cornwall for Dave

Dave-C-Missouri-Swim

This Olympic Summer, Blue Ambassador Dave Cornthwaite is about to take on his biggest challenge yet; to swim 1000 Blue Miles down the Missouri River in the USA to raise £100k for breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel!

Dave, who has previously entered the Guinness Book of Records by paddling the length of the Mississippi River and skateboarding across Australia, selected the waters of the south coast of Cornwall as his training ground for his latest challenge. He will start his epic journey on the 10th August from the small town of Chamberlain, South Dakota with a team of 7 volunteers paddling the full 1000 miles alongside him.

One of these volunteers will be Sarah Mortiboys, who after fighting breast cancer at the age of 32 now campaigns on behalf of CoppaFeel! to raise awareness of the disease. Sarah, from Perranporth, will join the team for 2 weeks in August to lead the fundraising campaign and help the team achieve their target of raising £100,000.

“This is a massive opportunity to raise vital funding for this amazing charity and I feel very privileged to be a member of this fantastic team” says Sarah.

“We are aiming to raise £100 per mile so we have kept it simple! If you would like to make a £1 donation please text “SINK88” to 70070. Every pound will make a difference!” says Dave, who has been swimming off the coast near Mawnan Smith in preparation to swim 20 miles a day for 50 days.

Dave and his team will be sharing their adventures on www.davecornthwaite.com, on Twitter via @DaveCorn and through www.facebook.com/expedition1000
